The most common cause of graphic tee degradation is improper washing. Follow these guidelines to keep your Tokiyo prints looking fresh for years.
The Golden Rules
- Turn inside-out before washing. This is the single most important step. It protects the print from abrasion against other garments and the machine drum.
- Use cold water only. Hot water degrades print adhesion and shrinks cotton fibres. Always wash at 30C or below.
- Use a gentle cycle. High-speed agitation stresses both fabric and print. Choose the delicate or gentle programme.
- Use mild detergent. Avoid detergents with bleach or optical brighteners - they strip colour from both fabric and prints.
- Do not tumble dry. Heat is the enemy of graphic prints. Always air dry, preferably inside-out in indirect light.
What to Avoid
- Never iron directly on a print - always iron inside-out
- Avoid dry cleaning
- Do not wring the garment
- Keep away from direct sunlight while drying
