Two distinct visual languages exist in garment decoration: the tactile permanence of embroidery and the photographic flexibility of printing. Each has its place in a premium wardrobe.
Embroidery
Embroidery uses thread stitched directly into fabric, creating a raised, textured effect. It is virtually permanent - unlike prints, embroidery does not fade. It works beautifully for logos, monograms, and simple graphic elements. However, it is expensive for complex full-colour designs and adds weight to the garment.
DTF Print
Printing allows photographic reproduction at any size. A DTF print can recreate an entire painting on a T-shirt back - something embroidery could never achieve at any price point. Modern DTF printing is as durable as high-quality embroidery when properly cared for.
Our Approach at Tokiyo
We select the technique based on the design intent. Small chest logos - like the Tokiyo brand mark - work beautifully as puff print or embroidery. Large back graphics and full-front artwork are always executed in DTF for maximum detail and visual impact. The result is a garment where every element is optimised for its specific role.
